چکیده

Background Assessment of fibrosis in thinner myocardial structures such as the right ventricular (RV) and left atrial walls would be valuable in disorders such as pulmonary hypertension, congenital heart disease, and atrial fibrillation. We recently developed a novel technique, termed ANGIE, which provides high-resolution 2D T1 mapping for assessment of thin structures such as the wall of the RV. However, high resolution 2D imaging is limited by lower SNR and time efficiency. A 3D image acquisition provides higher SNR and complete coverage of the heart. However standard 3D navigated techniques have prohibitively long scan times. Thus, the aim of the present study was to extend ANGIE to perform high-resolution three-dimensional (3D) T1 mapping of the whole heart within a clinically acceptable scan time.

High-resolution T1 mapping with ANGIE detects increased right-ventricular extracellular volume fraction in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension

Background Right ventricular (RV) failure is associated with increasing morbidity and mortality in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Pressure overload in PAH leads to a complex series of changes in cardiomyocytes and the extracellular matrix of the RV. Thus, quantitative T1 mapping of the RV to assess myocardial extracellular volume fraction (ECV) may be a valuable noninvasive marker of RV...

Detection of elevated right ventricular extracellular volume in pulmonary hypertension using Accelerated and Navigator-Gated Look-Locker Imaging for Cardiac T1 Estimation (ANGIE) cardiovascular magnetic resonance

BACKGROUND Assessment of diffuse right ventricular (RV) fibrosis is of particular interest in pulmonary hypertension (PH) and heart failure (HF). Current cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) T1 mapping techniques such as Modified Look-Locker inversion recovery (MOLLI) imaging have limited resolution, but accelerated and navigator-gated Look-Locker imaging for cardiac T1 estimation (ANGIE) is...

Free-breathing post-contrast three-dimensional T1 mapping: Volumetric assessment of myocardial T1 values.

PURPOSE To develop a three-dimensional (3D) free-breathing myocardial T1 mapping sequence for assessment of left ventricle diffuse fibrosis after contrast administration. METHODS In the proposed sequence, multiple 3D inversion recovery images are acquired in an interleaved manner. A mixed prospective/retrospective navigator scheme is used to obtain the 3D Cartesian k-space data with fully sam...

Clinically-Driven Fast and High-Resolution Mapping of T1, M0, and B1 with Whole Brain Coverage

Introduction Quantitative MR techniques have become increasingly on demand in human brain imaging. In particular, accurate mapping of the longitudinal relaxation time, T1, and water content, M0, is of prime interest pushing the development of techniques with high spatial resolution and short experimental durations. The current most efficient method for obtaining T1 maps is based on acquiring tw...

3D myocardial T 1 mapping using saturation recovery

PURPOSE To propose a 3D quantitative high-resolution T1 mapping technique, called 3D SASHA (saturation-recovery single-shot acquisition), which combines a saturation recovery pulse with 1D-navigator-based-respiratory motion compensation to acquire the whole volume of the heart in free breathing. The sequence was tested and validated both in a T1 phantom and in healthy subjects. MATERIALS AND ...
